Gisela M. Bichler
Gisela Bichler is associate professor, and founder and director of the Center for Criminal Justice Research, in the Department of Criminal Justice at California State University, San Bernardino. Her research involves the study of accidents and hazards, crime analysis, problem-oriented policing, crime prevention through environmental design, environmental criminology, situational crime prevention, and the criminal justice application of GIS technology to the study of crime events. She regularly works with criminal justice agencies, community groups, and city governments to develop solutions to local crime and public safety issues that invoke stronger place management and situational crime prevention. She is a judge for the Herman Goldstein Award for Excellence in Problem-Oriented Policing. Bichler received her Ph.D. in criminal justice from Rutgers – State University of New Jersey.
